- should this service return a StandardResult? If yes, can I set on StandardResult.result the updated tbcasedata, so I can update in UI?

- When trying to save a case close with OTHER outcome and the text field filled in a validation error occours because of a bug on the validation process.

Yes... Return a StandardResult because the service may raise validation errors, for example, a rule that prevents the case from closing if there is no microscopy exam.
